Grain Storage
History and Development
1999
Hehir's grain storage was originally established in Rand in 1999 with our on-site construction of three 1500t sealed and aerated Kotzur Silos.
2004
Four more 1500t silos, a 4000t silo and two 2000t bunkers were completed.
2005
More storage was purchased nearby in Walbundrie in 2005 with three sheds providing a 10,000t storage capacity at that site.
2012
In 2012, four 125t silos were added to the complex at Rand specifically for grading and insect treatment. This brought the total storage capacity to 29,000t.
2014
In 2014, four additional bunker sites were constructed, giving a total storage capacity of 60,000 tonnes.
Today
Drive over hoppers and large augers have been installed at the bunkers over the last few years allowing faster deliveries and quick turnarounds for growers and drivers.
Our Focus
Our commitment to the grain industry with modern facilities and grade segregation has attracted a number of grain buyers to post daily prices at harvest. We also offer warehousing of grain to enable growers to make decisions at a time that suits them.
Our grain storage facilities house wheat, canola, barley and triticale from a number of local growers in the region. They are stored at harvest and sold directly to grain buyers, or warehoused and then delivered throughout the year. In addition to our own facilities, our dedicated grain services team also manage Graincorp's Rand and Brocklesby Graincorp sites. We provide employment for up to an additional 35 staff each year during the harvest season.
